About

What the institute does

A small research organisation built around one question: how do people, organisations and institutions actually change when a technology arrives.

HJITM is an independent research institute based in Seoul, Republic of Korea. Our work is empirical and quantitative in the main: survey-based studies of technology adoption and continued use, organisational and public-sector research on how work environments shape behaviour, and text- and behaviour-based analyses of digital platforms. Recent work concentrates on generative AI — how office workers, students and organisations adopt it, what they fear about it, and what changes in performance and knowledge work when they do.

The institute publishes in international journals rather than reporting to clients, which shapes how we work. A study is designed to survive peer review from the first draft: the theoretical contribution is stated before data collection, the sampling frame is defensible, the measurement instrument is traceable to published scales, and the ethics approval is obtained before a single response is recorded.

Members of the institute also serve on the other side of the process, as reviewers for more than seventy international journals and as guest editors for special issues. That vantage point informs everything on this site: we have read a great many manuscripts that failed for reasons entirely unrelated to the quality of the underlying research.

Methods

Quantitative first, mixed where the question demands it

Method follows the research question. Where a single method cannot answer it, the design is mixed and stated as such.

Structural equation modeling

PLS-SEM and CB-SEM, measurement and structural models, mediation, moderation, multi-group analysis, MICOM, PLSpredict.

Statistical analysis

Regression families, ANOVA, multilevel and panel models, latent class and cluster analysis, meta-analysis.

Experimental and quasi-experimental design

Scenario and vignette experiments, factorial designs, manipulation checks, pre-registration where appropriate.

Text and behavioural data

Topic modeling, sentiment analysis, keyword networks, review and social data collected via official APIs.

Research support

Working with researchers outside the institute

Alongside its own studies, the institute supports researchers preparing manuscripts for international and Korean journals.

Support covers the full arc of a study rather than isolated tasks: sharpening the research question and locating the contribution, designing the model and hypotheses, building and translating the measurement instrument, preparing ethics documentation, collecting and validating data, running and interpreting the analysis, writing the manuscript in academic English, selecting target journals against index, quartile and scope, and drafting point-by-point responses to reviewers.

Work can also be scoped to a single stage — a structural equation model that needs to withstand review, a manuscript that needs to be readable to an English-language editor, a formatting pass against author guidelines, or a response letter after a major revision decision.

Every engagement follows the same ethical line. We do not write research we did not participate in, and we do not offer authorship or guarantee acceptance by any journal. What is offered is research capability and publication experience, applied to work that remains the researcher's own.
